Restaurant Owners, let your servers learn more about wine to increase your sales. My services are after your closing hours (usually a Monday or Tuesday evening) where I can teach wine basics, or specialized wine information from your wine list. I bring in a hand out for every one. Tasting the wines is up to you, but is recommended. Sessions take around an hour, and I am available to stay and answer questions. Here is an example of a previous employee teaching session:
Chardonnay – This is a wine that can vary greatly with terroir and wine making techniques. Chardonnay is a grape that easily takes on the characteristics of its terroir and aging vessels. It grows in all climates, but each climate will produce different characteristics.
Chardonnay styles and climates would then be discussed to describe taste and pairing suggestions.
I can also do by country or region:
Chianti Classico – This is an Italian red wine made mostly from Sangiovese grapes. This wine dates back to 13th century and was a white wine. It later evolved into a red wine blend of Sangiovese, Canaioli, and Malvasia Bianca. The Chianti area was first defined in 1716 and is now the area referred to as Chianti Classico.
Again that would be followed by a characteristic description and pairing suggestions.
If a wine list is provided, I will also have specific winery information.
My goal is to teach your servers about wine in a way they find easy to learn and then easy to express to your customers.
My fee is $100 per session. There is no minimum on sessions. I am WSET I & II certified. For Level II, I received the award of “Passing with Distinction” by scoring a 96 on the exam. I will begin my CSW in January.
I can also provide industry referrals upon request.
Wine is my passion!
